Founders Club at Pawleys Island
Constructed on the site of the old Sea Gull golf course, the new Founders Club at Pawley's Island seems to resemble its neighbor True Blue in many ways but it plays a little fairer. Tons of dirt was excavated to create a visually stunning course with dramatic bunkering and waste areas, exceptionally wide fairways, acres of sculpted mounds and large luscious greens. The track of the course remains the same, meandering through the fabulous natural vegetation, love grass, azaleas and live oaks sheathed with Spanish moss. Water comes into play on many of the holes but can be easily avoided by most golfers on most holes. Probably the most unique hole in Myrtle Beach is the par 4, 392 yard 15th hole. Played from a somewhat elevated tee box to a slightly inclined fairway the defining element of this hole is the ridge jutting out into the fairway. Unless you can hit a picture perfect tee shot to the left side or can hit like a PGA pro, you might find yourself with a blind shot uphill to a green guarded by bunkers to the front and pine trees to the rear.
